Cameras that support POE? (Ex. RealSense D555 POE)

I need:

  • A skeletal tracking solution where the camera is not physically close (> 50ft | 15M) to its associated PC.
  • A camera that supports relatively low light scenarios.
  • A camera that has a reasonable EOL so we can buy replacements in the near future as needed.
  • Unity integration

My assumption is that I will need a POE solution.

Right now we have Orbbec Gemini 335Le (POE) and RealSense D555 (POE) cameras. The Orbbec camera does not seem to officially support skeletal tracking and they seem to have abandoned any development on their body tracking SDK. The RealSense SDK 2.0 (librealsense) does not natively support skeletal tracking (that I can find).

I see there is question in the FAQ saying ‘contact us to port to your hardware’ for unsupported devices.

Realistically, what are my options here? Is there a camera or solution I am missing?

Right now we are exploring open source options in addition to Nuitrack along with librealsense, but not all of them will meet our needs or have non-commercial licenses.

Thank you for your patience, and we apologize for the delayed response.

At this time, we do not support new RealSense sensors starting from the D455 model, due to low depth detection performance. We plan to evaluate newer models in the future, however this is not currently a priority for us.

If you have previously used Nuitrack with RealSense, have a clear understanding of the tracking quality on these sensors, we may be able to offer contract-based development. This would ensure compatibility of the new sensors at the level of previous RealSense models.
