Finetuning gesture tracking Intel RealSense D435

So I’m working on a project which uses the Intel RealSense D435. The goal is to use the sensor to give presentations on a big display. I’m planning on using built-in gestures like swipe to control the presentation. Are there recommended settings I can change to make the sensor work optimally?

Hi Bram,

Recommended tracking distance for RealSense D435 is ~1.5-2 meters. At greater distances, we observe a so-called “waving effect”, which negatively affects tracking quality. You can also try to increase the tracking quality with RealSense by using two filters:

Starting from Nuitrack 0.23.1, two post-processing filters are available using nuitrack.config file: in the Realsense2Module section, you can find the SpatialFilter and DownsampleFactor (corresponds to the decimation filter in RealSense SDK). For example, if you set DownsampleFactor to 2, the noise level in the depth map will be reduced according to the Intel recommendations.
